One island, one book. Whidbey Reads is an annual program that brings Whidbey Island residents together to read and talk about a book. A series of engaging public events focuses on themes related to the story. The 2016 selection is The Wind Is Not a River. Whidbey Reads 2016 is a collaborative effort between Sno-Isle Libraries, Whidbey Island Friends of the Library groups and volunteers from each community on Whidbey Island. Other partners include Skagit Valley College, Best Western Harbor Plaza, Wind & Tide Books, and Moonraker Books.

April 14, 12:30 p.m. Brian Payton will read from, and discuss the story behind, The Wind Is Not a River at Skagit Valley College, 1900 SE Pioneer Way, Oak Harbor, WA. AND at 7 p.m., Oak Harbor Library, 1000 SE Regatta Dr., Oak Harbor, WA.
